My client is a company with 20 years of experience in the curtain walling industry. They specialise in the design, manufacture, and installation of architectural glazing systems and cladding. They work closely with partners such as Schüco and Reynaers to provide aluminium systems to it's clients and partners
Role Overview:
Here at Mercury Hampton, we are currently seeking a Contracts Manager for our client to play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing multiple facade projects within London. Reporting to the Head of Construction, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects, meeting or exceeding profitability forecasts, and maintaining a high standard of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the successful delivery of projects within budget and timescale.
- Lead and manage project teams, providing guidance and support.
- Report progress, programme updates, and cost control to Directors.
- Oversee design aspects and attend design meetings as necessary.
- Procure sub-contract packages in collaboration with the Quantity Surveyor.
- Co-ordinate and communicate effectively with stakeholders, including Main Contractor, Architect, Client, and Sub-contractor.
- Manage sub-contract work packages, planning, and legal duties.
- Ensure building regulation compliance.
- Implement and oversee site-related Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Manage own workload and areas of responsibility effectively.
- Agree on monthly fixing sub-contractors' applications and finalise sub-contract/supplier accounts in conjunction with QS.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Handle contractual administration and correspondence.
- Chair design meetings and regular internal design/production review meetings.
- Ensure Operation and Maintenance Files are completed as per contract requirements.
- Act as an ambassador of the Company, embodying the Company culture and values.
- Proactively identify and resolve problems.
- Conduct Performance and Development Reviews (PDRs) as necessary.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comply with Company policies, including Health & Safety and Environmental/Sustainability Policies.
- Fulfil any other duties relevant to the role or as determined by the Director.
Training & Development:
- Attend internal/external training courses relevant to the role or as required.
- Manage, support, and mentor team members in their personal development.
- Pursue ongoing personal development.
- Identify training needs and development opportunities within the department.
Knowledge/Experience/Attributes:
- Proven track record of leading and delivering successful projects with values of £6m and above.
- NVQ Level 6 Construction Contracting Operations or above is essential.
- Current SMSTS/CSCS essential.
- Façade experience, including curtain walling, cladding, and windows and doors.
- Strong client interface skills.
- Highly presentable with the ability to gain trust and respect.
- High degree of initiative.
- Good knowledge of design (desirable).
- High level of leadership and management skills.
- Technical experience and knowledge.
- Commercial and financial awareness.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
