The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations involved in converting raw materials into finished goods and reports directly to the Operations Manager. In collaboration with the planning, engineering, and wider operational teams, the Production Manager ensures that the facility has adequate resources—both personnel and equipment—to safely and efficiently execute the production plan.
Oversee Production Environment and Personnel:
- Manage all aspects of the production environment
- Ensure adequate staffing and equipment availability to meet production plans
Process Management and Documentation:
- Implement and maintain safe, efficient, and repeatable processes
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to established procedures
Training and Development:
- Establish comprehensive training programs for all production personnel
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and self-development
Production Planning and Execution:
- Deliver against production plans on shift, daily, and weekly basis
- Investigate shortfalls and implement corrective actions
Team Leadership and Management:
- Motivate and manage production shift teams through effective communication
- Conduct regular coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations
Performance Monitoring and Improvement:
- Drive departmental KPIs including performance against plan, labor recoveries, scrap performance, unit labor costs, production-related complaints, safety, and absence
- Analyze data to inform decision-making and drive improvements
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Build strong relationships within operations and across the organization
- Work closely with engineering and planning departments for maintenance scheduling
Project Management:
- Manage and deliver departmental and company-wide projects
Policy Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and legislative regulations
- Prioritize health and safety in all decision-making processes
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with the operations team to set strategies for material and operational improvements
Communication:
- Enhance departmental communications through regular briefings and one-on-one meetings
Continuous Improvement:
- Drive collaboration and performance within the production team
- Implement best practices and companywide improvements
Resource Management:
- Manage holidays and absences in accordance with company policies
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources across all shifts
