About the Role:
Our client, a leading manufacturing company in the fibreglass industry, is seeking a Shift Maintenance Technician to join their team in Wigan. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and proactive professional to ensure the maintenance, servicing, and repair of all site equipment, supporting production continuity and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain plant, equipment, and utilities across the site.
- Perform both reactive and planned maintenance tasks.
- Work both independently and as part of a team to resolve technical issues.
- Utilise SAP (CMMS) to log and close out work orders.
- Promote continuous improvement and contribute to a safe and tidy workplace (5S principles).
- Provide technical support during breakdowns and ensure smooth plant operations.
- Offer guidance to the shift supervision team and cover shifts during holidays/sickness.
- Serve as the Authorised Person (AP) for safety-related emergencies, including High Voltage (HV) for electrical technicians.
What We’re Looking For:
✅ Experience: At least five years in a maintenance environment.
✅ Qualifications: Time-served Electrical or Mechanical Apprenticeship (City & Guilds or equivalent).
✅ Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Basic electrical & mechanical maintenance capabilities.
- Knowledge of PLC systems (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens).
- High Voltage qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
✅ Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
✅ IT Skills: Competence in Microsoft Office and SAP.
