Site Manager

Civil Engineering – Infrastructure Projects – UK

I am working with a well-established, privately owned infrastructure contractor looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to support continued growth across major civil engineering programmes.

Operating nationally, the business delivers complex projects within highly regulated sectors including utilities, transport, and energy. With long-term framework agreements and repeat clients, they offer genuine stability alongside technically interesting work. This organisation delivers projects using predominantly directly employed teams, investing heavily in training, leadership development, and long-term career progression.

The Opportunity

You will take full operational responsibility for delivering civil engineering schemes from site mobilisation through to completion. This role suits someone confident leading teams on live infrastructure projects where safety, programme, and commercial performance are equally critical.

You’ll work closely with operational and commercial colleagues to ensure schemes are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to a high technical standard.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day site operations on civil engineering projects

Lead engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors

Drive programme performance and short-term planning

Oversee health & safety, environmental compliance, and quality control

Ensure works are delivered right first time

Monitor costs, forecasting, and protect the commercial position

Identify efficiencies and value engineering opportunities

Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders

Produce regular progress and performance reports

Requirements

Strong background as a Site Agent or Site Manager within civil engineering

Experience working in regulated infrastructure environments (e.g., water/utilities)

Commercial awareness with experience managing cost and value

Solid understanding of NEC or similar contract forms

Knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works procedures

Ability to review technical drawings and resolve design challenges

Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)

SMSTS (or equivalent) and valid CSCS

Temporary Works Coordinator (desirable)

Chartered status (or working towards) would be advantageous.

Why Consider This Role?

Long-term secured workload through major frameworks

Strong internal promotion culture

Exposure to technically challenging infrastructure projects

Support for professional development and further qualifications

Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package

Company vehicle or allowance (role dependent)

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Site Agent who wants security, responsibility, and genuine progression within a financially stable contractor.
