Mercury Hampton is exclusively retained for this strategic appointment. Our client is a globally respected, multi-million-dollar manufacturer of mission-critical engineering systems used in some of the most demanding environments in the world — including defence platforms, aerospace systems, and national security applications.
With a group turnover exceeding €2 Billion and a strategy focused on aggressive growth through innovation and acquisition, they have already doubled turnover in several divisions. Now, they are seeking a dynamic, experienced Sales Leader to take the reins across the US Aerospace and Defence sector.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role with one of the world’s most respected engineering brands. You will own sales strategy across the USA and selected international regions, driving growth in complex solution sales across aerospace OEMs, defence contractors, military supply chains, Tier 1 suppliers, and government programmes.
You’ll assess the current sales structure, define your team-building strategy, and lead from the front. The role involves both strategic key account management and hands-on leadership — developing a high-performing sales force that can win multi-million-dollar projects across land, air, sea, and space domains.
You’ll collaborate globally across customer service, innovation, engineering, and operations to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction. You’ll also contribute to cross-border deals and the development of new defence-related products and solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and deliver commercial strategy for Aerospace & Defence sales in the US.
Manage and grow key accounts including prime contractors, aerospace OEMs, system integrators, and government agencies.
Lead high-level commercial negotiations and drive big-ticket project wins.
Work with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Design, Project Management) on customer-centric solutions.
Mentor and develop Key Account Managers nationally and internationally.
Identify and penetrate new high-value accounts and emerging programmes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and security protocols typical in defence sales.
The Candidate:
You will be an inspirational, commercially sharp leader with deep experience in technical B2B sales to the Aerospace and/or Defence sectors. You understand the long sales cycles, programmatic funding structures, and stringent quality and compliance requirements unique to this space.
We are looking for someone who has:
Sold complex engineered components or systems into the Aerospace or Defence industry (e.g., actuators, valves, sensors, pumps, integrated systems, flow control, avionics subsystems).
Led a national sales team and has experience building or restructuring commercial teams.
Worked with major aerospace primes (e.g., Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman) or global defence OEMs.
Successfully closed large-scale, multi-year defence contracts.
Ideally, a technical degree or background in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering.
This is a leadership role with global visibility and influence, perfect for someone seeking a transformational, high-impact position within a rapidly scaling industrial technology group.
