The Role

Mob is looking for a Junior Content Editor to help create, optimise, and manage our editorial output across Mob and Mob+. This role will be responsible for the smooth operation of all administrative duties, including – but not limited to – building articles and recipes on the CMS, proofreading, and helping to publish online content and copy.

Based in Hoxton, Mob is a food-based social media platform aimed at students and young professionals. The Mob team is made up of dynamic, talented individuals who constantly strive to build the platform whilst maintaining a fun and inclusive working environment.

The successful candidate will need to have a background in editorial or copywriting and have excellent attention to detail. It is preferable (but not essential) that they have a passion for food, experience using a CMS, Mailchimp, and a familiarity with SEO and keyword research.

If possible please share samples of your work by including either a portfolio or links to your published articles or other written work along with your application.

You will be working at an exciting start-up company. The ideal candidate will be someone who can work well in a small team and work well across a number of different objectives.

What you will be doing as our Junior Content Editor

  • Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit any recipe content and written content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency. Ensure that the writing is clear and easy to understand.
  • Formatting and Layout: Format recipes and articles on the CMS to match the website's style and house guidelines. Ensure that the layout is visually appealing and user-friendly.
  • SEO Optimisation: Optimise recipe titles, meta descriptions, and content to improve search engine visibility. Use relevant keywords and ensure that the content follows SEO best practices.
  • Create Recipe Collections: Organise recipes into appropriate collections and ensure they follow the SEO guidelines listed above.
  • Quality Control & Site Maintenance: Ensure that all new and historic content adheres to the website's quality standards, including accuracy, consistency, and adherence to dietary guidelines (if applicable).
  • Content Planning: Assist in planning the content calendar, including seasonal recipes, holiday specials, and thematic content.
  • Analytics: Monitor website analytics to track the performance of recipes and content. Use data to identify areas for improvement and optimisation.

What we are looking for…

  • Demonstrable copywriting/editorial experience
  • If you have samples of work/portfolio that you would like to share, please add to your CV/Cover Letter
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience working to strict deadlines
  • Strong commitment to keeping up with the constantly-shifting food media landscape
  • An understanding of the food and drink scene with reasonable working knowledge of the sort of content Mob creates
  • Exceptional writing and research skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines
  • You'll be managing several projects at once, so having excellent organisational skill and multitasking ability is key
