Your Mission as Volunteer Podiatry Medical Assistant: 

You will be providing professional foot care to underserved, under-resourced communities, and in doing so, developing authentic relationships with the individuals you encounter. Our goal is to help them gain access to sustainable resources, meaningful human connections, and overall physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, ultimately leading to a better quality of life, inspired by the teachings of John 13:15.

Volunteer Role Description:

This role is integral to our mission of providing professional foot care and developing authentic relationships with the individuals we serve, aiding them in gaining access to sustainable resources and improving their overall quality of life. This is a voluntary position with flexible service options.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive foot care to patients in their homes or mobile facilities under the supervision of our team of podiatrists.
• Prepare treatment areas within homes or mobile facilities for patient examinations, ensuring they are neat and clean.
• Perform preliminary physical tests; take and record patients' vital signs and medical histories.
• Assist with minor surgical procedures and dressing wounds under the supervision of the podiatrist.
• Educate patients on proper foot care and preventive measures to avoid foot problems.
• Ensure all medical equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready for use.
• Coordinate with other healthcare and social services to ensure holistic patient care.
• Provide compassionate care and support, fostering trust and positive relationships with patients.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• Certification as a Podiatric Medical Assistant (CPMA) is highly desirable.
• At least 1-2 years of experience working as a podiatric medical assistant
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology related to podiatry.
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when needed.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

• Attention to detail and a high standard of care in all tasks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist with patient mobility.
