Role: Legal & Regulatory Affairs Associate
Industry: Space Technology
Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Employment Type: Full-time

About the role:

Come do your life’s best work at PierSight Space. We're a Space-Tech company with teams in Ahmedabad,
California and Bangalore on a mission to build application specific constellations of Synthetic Aperture
Radar and AIS satellites, starting with providing persistent ocean surveillance. With backing from
prestigious institutional investors like Alphawave Global, Elevation Capital, Boundless Ventures, All in
Capital, and Techstars, we're on the path to change the world of Earth Observation.

Description:

As PierSight scales toward satellite launch, global customers, cross-border partnerships, and deeper
engagement with government and regulated stakeholders, we need a sharp, business-minded legal
professional who can help keep the company protected, compliant, and fast-moving.

We’re looking for a Legal & Regulatory Affairs Associate with at least 2 years of in-house experience to
own day-to-day legal and compliance work across commercial contracts, corporate governance,
regulatory filings, policy tracking, and operational legal support.

This is a high-ownership startup role for someone who can work directly with founders, finance, supply
chain, business development, and external counsel to help PierSight move faster. You’ll help build the legal
and regulatory backbone of a company operating at the intersection of space, defence-adjacent
technology, cross-border business, and hardware manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Contracts & Business Support (~30% of your time)
• Draft, review, and negotiate NDAs, customer contracts, vendor agreements, consultant
agreements, MoUs, partnership agreements, and service contracts.
• Support the business development team on contract redlines, commercial risk reviews, deal
structuring, and escalation of legal issues.
• Maintain standard contract templates and clause libraries to improve turnaround time.
• Work with founders and business teams to identify practical legal positions instead of just flagging
problems and disappearing into the bushes.
2. Regulatory, Licensing & Compliance Support (~30% of your time)
• Track and support legal and regulatory requirements relevant to a space-tech company, including
corporate, commercial, data, export/import, and sector-specific compliance.
• Coordinate documentation and follow-ups for matters involving authorities, consultants, and
regulatory bodies such as IN-SPACe, DGFT, WPC, customs-related agencies and authorities.
• Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure timely tracking of filings, renewals, approvals,
licences, registrations, and responses.
• Support the team in preparing declarations, legal letters, policy notes, compliance summaries,
and internal guidance documents.
3. Corporate Governance & Internal Legal Operations (~20% of your time)
• Assist with board and shareholder matters, resolutions, minutes, statutory records, and
governance documentation.
• Work with finance and leadership on intercompany agreements, approvals, authorisations, and
internal documentation.
4. Risk Management, Policy Research & Special Projects (~20% of your time)
• Identify legal and regulatory risks across contracting, procurement, partnerships, employment
documentation, data usage, and operational activities.
• Conduct legal and policy research on new business lines, geographies, government opportunities,
and regulatory frameworks relevant to PierSight.
• Coordinate with external counsel on specialised matters including disputes, IP, international
contracting, regulatory opinions, and due diligence.
• Support fundraising, diligence, audits, insurance documentation, and strategic projects requiring
legal input.
Candidate Profile

Must-haves:
• LLB / BA LLB / BBA LLB or equivalent law degree.
• Minimum 2 years of in-house legal experience in a startup, manufacturing company, technology
company, aerospace, defence, telecom, electronics, logistics, or other regulated industry.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts independently.
• Strong understanding of corporate legal documentation, compliance tracking, and business
contracting.
• Ability to work directly with non-legal teams and translate legal risk into plain English.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent document management habits.
• High ownership mentality - you follow things through instead of waiting for reminders
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup where priorities change and legal work is closely tied
to execution.

Good-to-haves:
• Experience in space, aerospace, defence, telecom, deeptech, manufacturing, SaaS, or crossborder business environments.
• Familiarity with regulatory/compliance matters involving imports, exports, government contracts,
data/privacy, or sectoral approvals.
• Exposure to fundraise-related diligence, ESOP documentation, IP coordination, or international
subsidiaries/contracts.
• Experience managing outside counsel efficiently.

What We Offer:
• A front-row seat in building the legal and regulatory foundation of a high-growth space company.
• Ownership over high-impact work spanning contracts, regulation, governance, and strategic
transactions.
• A career path into broader legal, compliance, and business leadership as we scale.
• Competitive salary.
• Health Insurance, flexible leave policy.
