Job Description:
As an AI/ML Architect at the company, you will be instrumental in designing and deploying advanced AI/ML solutions that align with our core business objectives, such as fraud detection and generative AI.
Embedded within the data organization, you will serve both internal and external stakeholders—GTM, product, engineering, and others—to ensure seamless integration of machine learning models and AI applications into our overarching data platform.
Responsibilities:
- Key member of the senior leadership team reporting to CTO and intimate collaboration with CEO and Product to complete the PLC (Product Life Cycle);
- Data lifecycle advocate, and when required, a builder that can apply frameworks that balance the short-term needs with the need to build reusable core capabilities for scalable growth over the long term;
- Exceptional ability to reduce implementation complexity, scale, and mature delivery operations and accelerate launch cycles;
- Define, understand, and test opportunities and levers to improve the product through AI/ML models and applications, and drive AI/ML-modeling roadmaps through insights and recommendations.
- Drive the development (including pathfinding) and deployment of machine learning models and AI solutions to enhance our products.
- Contribute to advancing the AI/ML and data landscape at the company by driving product innovation and identifying opportunities to enhance our offerings for clients. This includes leading efforts in analysis, experimentation, and machine learning, refining discovery processes, scaling knowledge and tools, and mentoring team members across the organization.
What moves you and what will you do?
- You enjoy launching new products and the challenge of early-stage for the opportunity it affords to have a tangible impact through storytelling and delivery;
- You’re driven by executing pathfinding cycles founded on an iterative product development strategy;
- You aim to set a strong AI/ML practice as an enabler of a sustained competitive advantage for an organization;
- You want to work with a strong senior leadership team that has an edge around one of the largest problems limiting the growth of Fintechs in LatAm;
- You want to lead others, act as a coach, and have a driver seat in constructing a world-class company;
Requirements:
- 7+ years of combined experience in AI/ML, focusing on developing product-driven solutions and features, supervised/unsupervised machine learning, and generative AI. A big plus is in fraud detection.
- Proven expertise in collaborating with product teams to align AI/ML models with feature development and business goals.
- Experience in building, deploying, and scaling ML models that directly impact product offerings.
- Strong knowledge of data journey, architecture, and engineering practices, ensuring seamless integration of AI/ML solutions within broader product and data ecosystems.
- Early-stage startup proved experience, exhibiting the ability to balance both leadership and hands-on “maker” work.
- Understanding of business metrics like KPIs, OKRs, and AI product performance metrics to drive decisions and measure success.
- You have the ability to translate technical AI/ML solutions into practical, real-world applications while enjoying the process of experimenting, conducting research, and pushing the combined boundaries of innovation & time to market.
- Bonus: Experience with Fintech AI applications, and being based in Mexico is a plus.
Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, and Google Cloud to build, deploy, and manage AI/ML models at scale. (If the candidate only knows Azure for some reason but has a good handle on the offer of PaaS in ML and/or AI, we can pass it on, although Zenpli uses the ones mentioned above.)
- Plus-Knowledge of container and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes for scalable model deployment.
- Experience in programming languages such as Python or others commonly used in machine learning. If someone uses R, they should be focused on platforms at scale, not academic uses.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or Keras to develop machine learning models
- Experience working with large-scale datasets, including data cleansing, preprocessing, and feature engineering.
- Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, or Dask to handle large volumes of data.
- Understanding MLOps practices for automating the lifecycle of AI/ML models, from development and deployment to monitoring and maintenance.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git, Jenkins) for model deployment.
- Experience integrating AI/ML models into production environments through RESTful APIs or other types of service-oriented architectures.
- Knowledge of model interpretability, fairness, and bias mitigation techniques, especially in FinTech or regulated sectors.
- Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, or other regulatory frameworks related to the use of AI/ML and data privacy.
- Since Zenpli focuses on B2B contract automation with GenAI, expertise in natural language processing (NLP) techniques such as BERT, GPT, or Transformer models would be valuable. On the AI front, LLM power users with a strong differential between pre-trained and trained models.
- Optional - Computer vision skills might be relevant if there are applications involving image or video data for fraud detection.
- Skills in working with relational databases SQL and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) to store and retrieve data used in AI/ML models.
- Expertise in deploying AI models within a broader DevOps framework, ensuring that models are efficiently updated, retrained, and monitored in close to real-time.
- Big plus - Deep understanding of security protocols, anomaly detection, and fraud detection techniques, which are central to Zenpli's mission.

About the company
Identity risk is a massive problem that halts progress for society. Humans require trust to transact and as we increasingly do it online, there is no sure-fire way to ensure that behind the screen there is a real person and that the person is who they say they’re. The problem is getting worse as new threats emerge daily and AI turbo-charges fraudsters.
Managing identity risk is about building a complex jigsaw puzzle out of fragmented data to accurately construct someone’s digital identity. In LatAm, data vendors offer piecemeal solutions that fall short. This is why it’s not uncommon to see companies in the region managing 6-8 vendors and multiple sets of hard-coded rules, manual review processes, and identity fraud rates above global averages.
The company builds tools and develops intelligence to enable companies to trust digital identities, Our north star is to help customers achieve faster and more secure growth by seamlessly and accurately stopping fraud and complying with regulatory obligations. We closed our seed round co-led by Maya Capital and 468 Capital in June 2023.
