RotaCloud is a fast-growing technology company based in the heart of York, providing employee management software to thousands of companies across the UK and worldwide. We’re on a mission to make the world a better place to work. Our product gives managers the tools they need to organise and communicate with their teams and brings clarity, control and balance to employees’ working lives.

What kind of company are we?

Since we hired our first employee, we wanted to make RotaCloud a great place to work - to give our people the platform to do the best work of their careers, whilst ensuring they have a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Flexible hybrid working, enhanced family-friendly benefits, health insurance and paid lunch breaks are just a few ways we try to make life a little bit easier.

If this sounds like the kind of place you’d like to work, then read on.

What’s the opportunity?

RotaCloud is on a mission to make the world a better place to work. No piece of software is complete without being thoroughly tested at all stages of development. We offer a product that undergoes comprehensive quality testing before being deployed to hundreds of thousands of users. To contribute to this task we're looking for Software Testers with a keen eye for detail, good communication skills and an enthusiasm for learning to help expand our Testing team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate with developers, product owners and UX designers to test new features and improvements on both our web and mobile rota management apps
  • Proactively looking for issues within the products
  • Participating in regular regression testing
  • Raising detailed bug tickets
  • Creating testing plans
  • Participate in developing and maintain automation test suites
  • Proactively raising issues to the Lead Tester when necessary
  • Proactively pairing with and learning from other testers and developers

What we’re looking for

  • Computer Science Degree (or similar)
  • ISTQB or similar testing qualification (desirable)
  • Commercial experience of software testing both front and back end applications
  • Experience with some test automation tooling (Cucumber, Cypress, Selenium etc)
  • Attentive to detail, able to work on multiple projects across different platforms
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs
  • Experience writing E2E tests and/or unit tests
  • Working in an Agile development environment
  • People-oriented, positive and empathetic
  • Growing interpersonal skills, developing strong relationships with all team members
  • Passion for technology and willingness to learn new things

Bonus Points

  • Our mobile app is written in React Native
  • Our web app is written in Angular
  • Our current automation tests are written in Ruby (Cucumber) for our API and JavaScript (Cypress) for our web app

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary £30-35k depending on experience
  • Hybrid flexible working - need to drop the kids off at school? No problem
  • 34 days holiday (inc. BH's with a length of service increase to 41) & options to buy and sell
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Private healthcare
  • Paid lunch break
  • Enhanced family-friendly benefits
  • £500 per year to spend on learning and development
  • Eye health support
  • Paid time off for volunteering
  • Fortnightly work events, monthly department lunches, bi-annual company events

And if this wasn’t enough we have plenty more, less exciting, but equally useful benefits!

Where you’ll be working

This is a remote role, so work from our open-plan office in the centre of historic York, or the comfort of your own home… you decide!

Before you apply

  • You must already be eligible to work in the UK - unfortunately, we cannot sponsor visas at this time.
  • Please include a cover letter with your CV

What are you waiting for?!

Don't worry if you don't meet all of the criteria - we work with people, not CVs. So if you think you'd be a valuable addition to our team, please get in touch.

Due to the Christmas period, applications will be assessed and responded to during the first week of January 2024.
