Safe Harbor IM’s development intern works closely with our experienced Executive Director as she builds our fundraising program. S/he will gain valuable experience in fundraising and nonprofit management that can be used to launch a career in fundraising or simply to gain skills that will help you succeed in the nonprofit industry in general.
Description
The non-profit management & fundraising intern will help us build up our individual fundraising program to diversify Safe Harbor IM’s revenue streams and provide long-term sustainability within our funding sources. As our individual giving program grows, our ability to help victims of abuse, creative actions will increase. The non-profit management & fundraising intern will get to be involved on the ground floor of this process and will get an inside view on how to start an individual donor fundraising program.
About Safe Harbor International
We are a domestic violence and resource training center for counselors, law enforcement, social workers, church leaders, human service agencies, court officials, victim advocates, mental health professionals, caregivers, community partners, nonprofits, & educators. We provide family intervention services in Troup, Clayton, Fayette, Henry, Coweta, Spalding, Pike, Jefferson counties and other surrounding counties in Georgia as well as international communities. Our mission is to provide family restoration through promoting emotional, spiritual, and physical healing by offering victim advocacy services, counseling, mentoring, training programs, educational, and social service initiatives to transform the lives of men, women, and children. Safe Harbor is dedicated exclusively to building a powerful grassroots movement to fight family violence, and to restore families.
Specifically your task will include:
Managing data and updating information in our database.
Writing fundraising collateral, from brochures to email appeals to thank you notes.
Assisting with donor events.
Leveraging your own creative thinking to build Safe Harbor IM’s fundraising program.
What we are looking for:
Strong organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal skills
An interest in nonprofit management and donor development
A commitment to helping families find restoration and healing through various programs.
Prior database use and/or research skills are preferred but not required.
LEARNING PLAN:
Understand how to develop positive strong community partner relationships.
Understand how to leverage your own creative thinking to assist in developing an individual, corporate, foundation donor fundraising program.
Become knowledgeable on how to develop and improve writing and verbal communication skills when speaking to community potential donors and other professional groups.
To apply effective writing skills to grant writing.
To apply research skills to the grant writing process.
Learn how to communicate effectively with other team members on assigned projects.

Remote Position
Hours and Duration of internship:
Interns are part time. This intern will be required to work a minimum of 10 to 12 or more hours per week. We are looking for interns who can commit to 6 to 8 months due to the nature of the projects.
Compensation:
Safe Harbor is a Non-profit organization and we encourage you to pursue course credit for this internship, or external grant opportunities if those are available, and we will support these pursuits in any way we can.
