Shortlister is a rapidly expanding education technology (EdTech) provider looking to hire an ambitious Sales Development Representative. The role includes researching and targeting prospects to introduce Shortlister's capabilities, with a view to progressing their interest into a sales opportunity. You'll work closely with our small but collaborative team, and have access to a range of systems to achieve your goal.

If you have a commercial mind, superb writing skills, and are hyper organised and motivated to achieve results, then this is for you. You'll also need to be able to work independently, with considerable autonomy from day one.

The company

Shortlister is the AI-powered interview screening platform for employers and educational institutions. We help employers to video interview, review and shortlist the best applicants. We help education institutions to prepare the applicants of tomorrow. We’re a tech startup beyond the start-up phase! It’s the best time to join! We have 150+ clients, including some of the biggest corporates and most respected universities, and the opportunity for incredible growth is right here, right now. And with our Company Share Plan, you’ll have the chance to be rewarded for our mutual success.

The role

The position of Sales Development Representative is a vital role - you will make a tangible difference to the growth of Shortlister by:

  • Researching companies based on our ideal customer profiles and finding reasons why we can work together
  • Planning your method of approach, using email, Linkedin, calling and other means to start the conversations
  • Writing engaging, professional copy to gain attention
  • Engaging in conversations (written/phone) with prospects, to qualify their interest and deal with initial objections
  • Manage all data sources and keep organised, you'll need an eye for detail!
  • Measuring your own success and re-iterating the process as you gain a finger on the pulse of what's working and what's not

Shortlister is an exciting tech company with a family-feel. This is a flexible role that allows you to work at your best. Our commercial hub is in York city centre and we would like people to be available to get to the office on a fairly regular basis, so you'll need to be within a reasonable commute of York.

The person

This role is not for someone who needs full-on structure and support. You will need to work with autonomy and enjoy figuring out problems yourself. You’ll have early responsibility and will directly impact the commercial success of the business, so you must be focused and single-minded about the goal. You'll need to have:

  • Excellent written communication skills - without this, it just won't work
  • A commercial mind, able to join dots and understand where the 'hook' is and be able to explain why
  • Eye for detail is essential
  • Dynamic, you must take pride in your proactive approach and output
  • Persistent and resilient, you'll need unwavering focus to achieve success
  • Highly organised, you’ll be managing data, systems and processes

The details

£25k base and a structured bonus plan

Opportunity to qualify for the company share scheme

30 days holiday

Statutory workplace pension

This is a hybrid office/home-based role.

If you fit the profile and have some commercial experience within a similar role, then we would love to hear from you. Please apply online and we will be in touch straight away if your background looks suitable.
