Job Title: Hospital Porter
Location: Manchester, Greater Manchester
Salary from £12.55 per hour to £15.00 per hour

Reports To: Facilities Manager / Portering Supervisor
Job Purpose
To provide safe, efficient, and courteous portering services across the hospital, ensuring the timely movement of patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies to support clinical and non-clinical operations.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Transport patients between wards, departments, and theatres using wheelchairs or trolleys.
Move medical equipment, supplies, and furniture as required.
Deliver specimens to pathology and collect medications from pharmacy.
Assist with the transfer of deceased patients to the mortuary.
Respond to emergency calls (e.g. crash trolley delivery).
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of portering equipment.
Follow infection control and manual handling procedures.
Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors.
Report faults, incidents, or hazards promptly.

Working Conditions
Shift work including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Uniform and PPE provided.
Exposure to clinical environments and sensitive situations.
Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
