Snapshot Games is looking for a highly skilled VFX artist with a passion for creating high-quality video games.

Snapshot Games is a video game development studio in Sofia, Bulgaria, founded in 2013 by Julian Gollop, award winning designer of the original X-COM games, and David Kaye, serial entrepreneur in the games industry. Our two released titles, Phoenix Point (2019) and Chaos Reborn (2017) have both been critically praised and very popular in the strategy genre.
In 2020 Snapshot joined Embracer Group, one of the world’s largest games and entertainment companies, as a division of Saber Interactive.

Responsibilities
- Design, create and implement high quality visual effects using particles, animation, materials, sprite sheets, custom shaders, and more in Unity
- Work closely with all departments to ensure that art direction, gameplay, and technical requirements are met
- Ensure that VFX are optimized and meet performance requirements
- Keep up to date with new technologies in the industry to help advance the visual quality bar for our products
- Rapidly prototype, iterate and refine ideas based on feedback, concepts, references
Required expertise
- Experience with actual VFX implementation in a project
- Special Visual Effects skills - particle systems, post effects, lighting, etc.
- Strong skills with 2D/3D art software
- Ability to author and edit shaders to create real-time VFX
- Strong understanding of the principles of real-time visual effects, as well as art, animation, and visual design fundamentals (color theory, etc.)
- Understanding of lighting, composition, detailing, types of material surfaces, and the ability to stylize them into original environment setups
- Good English language skills
There are some specific areas of expertise which are beneficial. These are:
- Lighting skills in game engines
- Еxperience with Unity 3D - Shuriken and/or VFX Graph
- Experience with other game engines and VFX tech
- Procedural Modelling / Texturing
- Experience in video game development
