Space Machinesco Private Limited (SMC) is a pioneering on-orbit servicing provider, offering "Roadside Assistance, In Space" for commercial and government customers. With a fleet of versatile Optimus Orbital Servicing Vehicles (OSVs), SMC delivers essential services such as on-orbit inspection, monitoring, refuelling, debris management, and satellite life extension. By focusing on space safety and sustainability, SMC is revolutionizing the way we maintain and support human presence in space. 

 

THE ROLE 

 

In this Bengaluru (India) based position, you will report to the Mission Management Lead and will be the key focal point for specific mission and project outcomes for our Indian organisation and opportunities, shaping the future of how we get to orbit! In addition, you will have the opportunity to work directly with our engineering team and broader company to deliver our spacecraft and vehicle to the launch pad.  

 

The role will include: 

  • Mastering of multiple projects and spacecraft missions, to ensure on-time delivery to our customers and stakeholders 
  • Keeping the team focussed and on track through project management activities including scheduling, resourcing, cost and programmatic risk management 
  • Reporting to management on mission and project status 
  • Being the first point of call for customers and partners, to deliver a seamless and positive customer experience.  
  • Supporting our Engineering organisation in delivering all the amazing technical work. 
  • Working with local integration and testing companies to ensure smooth transition between Australian and Indian facilities 
  • Overseeing the launch campaign including working with the launch provider to ensure on-time delivery of documentation 
  • Supporting the development of bids and proposals for future business opportunities 
  • Supporting regulatory, licencing and compliance for each mission 
  • Lots of other fun space-related stuff as required.

PROFILE 

 

Ideally, you will be deeply passionate about space, technology, and customer delivery. Preferably you will have a technical or management background in the space or technology industry, as you will need to engage deeply with engineering and technical teams, but also have project management and business acumen to deliver success to our customers and our missions. Our customers will be commercial, civilian government and defence based, and experience or understanding in these sectors will be beneficial.    

 

Communication and stakeholder management skills will be key to the success of this role, and we expect you to be a pro-active, creative, enthusiastic and results oriented. 

 

Some interstate and international travel may be required for the role.
