Space Machines Company (SMC) is an Australian start-up developing in-space logistics and transportation capabilities to cost-effectively insert small satellites into desired low earth orbits (LEO), geostationary earth orbits (GEO) and lunar orbits. SMC vehicles will grow in future to maintain, refuel, repair and decommission satellites and other spacecraft.
THE ROLE
Space Machines Company are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join our team in Bengaluru, India. We have a number of projects in the early stages of development that require expert input to deliver.
The role includes:
- integration of MCU and FPGA with local peripherals and components to control key subsystems
- mixed signal design, ADC/DAC, SSPA to realise SDR designs
- Rx and Tx design with different modulation schemes
- firmware development including for RF
- power conditioning and regulation - solar power management, battery charging, power domain segregation
- communication bus implementations (UART, CAN, SPI, I²C, ethernet, LVDS etc)
- PCB and part selection and specification for space operations
- testing of all of the above, including developing new test rigs if necessary
- testing
- more testing
PROFILE
We are looking for a talented individual with the following profile:
- a degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field
- at least 5 years experience delivering electronics projects
- worked with microcontrollers, FPGAs, SoCs
- a strong understanding of analog and digital circuitry
- a strong understanding of RF and SDR design
- familiarity with the problems of radiation in electronics and how to mitigate them
- the ability to work closely with software and comms engineers
- the ability to mentor other engineers
- the ability to clearly communicate at an appropriate level with non-technical personnel
The following profile would be a bonus, but is not essential:
- FPGA programming experience
- experience with motor controller electronics
- experience with electronics in harsh environments
