The Stride Broadcast Program

SpaceTime Strategies is partnering with Stride, a continued learning platform that strives to provide everyone with new and more effective ways to learn. Stride aims to leave no learner behind and allow them to focus on building the skills and confidence learners need to make their way forward in life.

This four-month-long program features a variety of broadcast roles for students to fill, listed below. Students selected for these positions will be broadcasting and administrating The Stride Series. The Stride Series consists of daily tournaments featuring Fortnite, Smash Ultimate, Teamfight Tactics, Rocket League, and League of Legends. SpaceTime Strategies is hiring for the following positions: 

Two (2) Technical Directors

Eight (10) Casters

  • Two (2) Fortnite Casters
  • Two (2) Rocket League Casters
  • Two (2) Teamfight Tactics Caster
  • Two (2) League of Legends Casters
  • Two (2) Smash Ultimate Casters 

Three (3) Observers


 

About You

You are passionate about esports, and have a strong interest in the technical side of broadcast production. You are exceptionally organized and an excellent communicator. You learn quickly and ask questions. You’re basically a sorcerer that can tame pure chaos. Most importantly, you’re a student at heart and you love to learn.


 

As part of the Stride Broadcast Program, candidates selected to learn Shoutcasting will have the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to:


 

  • Provide mesmerizing in-game analysis and/or exciting play-by-play action calls.
  • Show exceptional host qualities for greetings, sign-offs, and reads.
  • Capture key gameplay moments through compelling story-based casting.
  • Offer interesting interview questions to student athletes.
  • Review and critique broadcast VODs, understanding story-based narratives.
  • Triage communications in a live broadcast environment.
  • Understand and interpret a variety of on-screen visuals, beyond just gameplay.
  • Successfully execute technical broadcast rehearsals.
  • Build synergy with co-casters & efficiently communicate with the rest of the broadcast team.
  • Follow down-to-the-minute Runs-of-Show schedules, executing perfect transitions between scenes, content, and stories.
  • Distill complex game mechanics, plays/replays, and strategies into digestible content with entertaining delivery.

Skills & Qualifications

The following are the minimum requirements necessary to be considered for this position:


 

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Stable internet connection with at least 15mbps up/download speeds, and a working headset, microphone, and PC.
  • Available to work 10-20 hours per week, often nights & weekends.
  • Proficient in G-Suite, Discord, TeamSpeak, and Battlefy.
  • Basic working knowledge of PC gaming, specifically the titles mentioned above.
  • Basic knowledge of streaming platforms (Twitch, YouTube Gaming, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with others on a team.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills for attending meetings, rehearsals & shows.
  • Capable of adapting to change in a rapidly changing live broadcast environment.

Exceptional Qualities

The best possible candidates for these positions will likely have some or all of the following qualities in addition to the requirements above:


 

  • Experience as a host, MC, or other public speaking or on-screen talent role(s)
  • Creative writing and story-telling skills
  • Clear enunciation and language skills, pleasing timbre, appropriate appearance on camera
  • Avid spectatorship of major esports like LCS, OWL, and others
  • Experience using vMix Calls, Parsec and VLC
  • Basic understanding of audio quality engineering; avoiding dB peaks, static, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of multiple competitive esports titles
  • Excellent student, willing to learn quickly and make swift feedback-based improvements



 

Schedule

The Stride Broadcast Program will run through May through August. . The candidates selected for these positions will be required to attend all planning & training events in addition to scheduled broadcasts. It is important that students are available for events on the following dates.

  • Technical Director Training: May 31st 
  • Production Assistant and Observer Training #1: June 1st
  • Caster Training Day #1: June 2nd
  • Caster Training Day #2: June 3rd
  • Rehearsal 1: June 6th
  • Rehearsal 2: June 7th
  • Rehearsal 3: June 8th
  • Rehearsal 4: June 9th
  • Rehearsal 5: June 10th 

Here is the weekly schedule:


 

Monday- Fortnite

Tuesday- Smash Ultimate

Wednesday- Teamfight Tactics

Thurs- Rocket League

Friday- League of Legends
