We are looking for a skilled and creative VFX Artist to design and implement high-quality real-time visual effects for our mobile games. You’ll work closely with the art, design, and engineering teams to deliver visually appealing, optimized, and stylistically cohesive effects that elevate gameplay and storytelling.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in internal playtests and provide high level feedback for game’s direction.
- Create stylized and realistic VFX such as explosions, character abilities, environment effects, and UI animations for mobile platforms.
- Maintain and enhance an existing suite of shaders like water, terrain, foliage, characters and a lot more.
- Work within Unity game engine to integrate VFX and shader assets into gameplay and cinematics.
- Collaborate with designers and artists to ensure VFX enhances user experience, immersion, gratification and game readability.
- Collaborate with artists to ensure that the shaders provide apt functionality to express an ambitious creative vision.
- Optimize VFX and shaders for performance on a wide range of mobile devices.
- Maintain consistency with the overall art direction of the game.
- Troubleshoot and fix any VFX and shader related bugs or performance issues.
Experience & Skills Required:
- 2+ years of professional experience as a VFX Artist in game development.
- Proficiency in the VFX and shader tools present in Unity (or Unreal Engine): Shuriken/Cascade, VFXGraph/Niagara, Shadergraph/MaterialEditor.
- Familiarity with Photoshop/Affinity/Gimp/Krita, and Maya/Blender for texture and mesh generation.
- Strong understanding of art fundamentals and color theory for mobile game development.
- Familiarity with mobile performance constraints and optimization techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.
- Avid player of multiplayer shooter games.
- Beginner C# scripting for VFX and shader variable syncing.
- Strong sense of empathy for the players.
