Barista
The barista’s job is to be the welcoming host to the daily Tandem party.
To achieve success you must do the following:
- provide pleasant, inviting, and attentive service for customers
- respect and support co-workers
- maintain a working knowledge of coffee and food offerings, serving each with thought and consideration
- focus your attention on maintaining the vibe and prioritizing tasks that directly affect this
- keep café clean and presentable inside and out at all times of the day
- restocking supplies to maintain the flow and efficient service we strive for
- production of iced coffees and tea, oat milk, and other café beverages
- responsibly handle the register and end of day cash deposits
- taking on cleaning projects to help maintain our building and space and keeping all shared storage spaces organized and tidy
- regularly attend company meetings and trainings
- once trained on bar, the ability to consistently serve espresso drinks that mirror the high standards we set in all other areas, with growth guided by education
Notes:
- Full time position (35-40 hours/week)
- $15.50/hr basepay + tips that avg $8-$13 hr seasonally + free coffee
- Benefits include optional health insurance with contribution from Tandem and paid time off accrued by hours worked
- All of our baristas are expected to pass a bar test prior to serving drinks

- consistent attendance and punctuality
- ability to focus and stay calm in a busy service environment
- excellent communication and listening skills with customers, coworkers, and managers
- attention to detail and cleanliness
- ability to self direct during slow periods
