Overview
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to quickly learn the business and act as the CEO’s right hand in both day-to-day execution and strategic initiatives. We envision this role growing to take up a mid-level managerial role with successful performance.

This role will be based in Kenya or Nigeria but it is 100% remote.
Duties and responsibilities
The Chief of Staff will use strong leadership and problem-solving skills to assist with the daily operation of an organisation. The Chief of Staff will have the following responsibilities based on the role that they take up:
Administration/Assistant Role
- Provide administrative, financial, and operational support to the CEO.
- Server as a Chief Executive Assistant, supporting executive employees in their roles by taking over their smaller responsibilities or handling other day-to-day items. Their duties include attending meetings on the executive leader’s behalf and taking notes, leading and implementing various strategic planning processes across the organization and providing leadership members with important company information to prepare them for upcoming meetings or presentations.

Digital Marketing/ Social Media Role
Product development/Founding Software Engineering Role
- Work with the CEO to ship software on a weekly basis
- Code a lot, in typescript mainly, we are still open on the additional programming languages of choice, we are leaning to typescript/ ionic using this low-code platform along with HTML5 games generated on platforms such as Phaser.
Candidate Requirements:
General
- 3+ years of management consulting or similar field experience
- 2+ years of management experience
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills are a must

- B.S. or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)
- 3+ years of demonstrable experience architecting and developing web/mobile applications with Typescript, HTML 5, Javascript (Phaser experience a plus), React, Next JS. Backend experience with server management is a big plus.
- Demonstrable experience with Front End development.
- Demonstrable experience writing type-safe code with Scripting languages.

Salary
This role at local level 1-2 (1-5 years of experience) will make KES 100,000 a month for the first 1 year and at international level $1,000 and get equity and thereafter, per year worked, KES 100,000/$1,000 will be added to their monthly salary so in year 2, the role holder would earn KES 200,000 a month and in year 3 they will earn KES 300,000 until they hit the market rate which we set for the role or are promoted to another role. The annual increment will be based on coming within 30% of our projected revenue as a company (i.e, we make 70% or more of our projected revenue). If we do not hit the revenue then the role would stay at the previous year's salary until we hit the revenue then the pay will go up.
It's a full-time role. It is planned to start out as a 3-month contractor contract with benefits anytime within a month of successfully completing the application process and based on availability. Thereafter it will convert to a staff role..

We’re searching for a highly qualified Chief of Staff to report directly to our CEO/President and work closely to populate and coordinate our executive team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a business leadership/management role, with a special focus on executive-level advising, project execution and key interdepartmental collaboration. Ultimately, the primary function of this role is to ensure everything runs smoothly throughout company operations for their executive leaders. They will provide the senior leadership team with leverage and help the company deliver on its ambitious plans for growth.

Salary
This role at management level 3-4 will make USD 2,000 a month (net, out of an eventual gross salary of USD 7,433, we are still determining if we can pay out in USD or KES for local staff from the lawyer, initial 3-month contract will be in KES based on companies’ annual exchange rate from 2022) for the first 1 year and get equity and thereafter, per year worked, USD 2,000 will be added to their monthly salary so in year 2, the role holder would earn USD 4,000 a month and in year 3 they will earn USD 6,000 etc until they hit the market rate which we set for Level 3, Step 2 ($ 7,433 net, $ 9,247 gross) for the role or are promoted to another role. The annual increment will be based on coming within 30% of our projected revenue as a company (i.e, we make 70% or more of our projected revenue). If we do not hit the revenue then the role would stay at the previous year's salary until we hit the revenue, and the balance will be paid as equity then the pay will go up. Note, the exchange rate for acccounting purposes in this case is set at $1 to KES 100 and will be set monthly based on the previous CBK accounting rate.

1. Which business does the role support?
The role will start in Tayari.live (formerly JT Consulting) which currently includes real estate and language learning, though we will most likely set up an additional company to house the real estate work so we focus on coaching and edtech under Tayari. Once the other company is set up, the role will support some functions in the other company as well, consider it working for the mother company, and the others will be subsidiaries.
2. Is it a remote working position?
Yes, with possibility to have an office location to go to if needed. Our focus is to have quarterly team offsites 2 to 4 times a year.
3. Is it under contract? If so, for how long?
Contractor contract for first 3 months of probation (with relevant subsidies towards the health insurance and tax etc) then when it's confirmed for those in Kenya it can become a staff contract, renewable annually
4. Number of paid annual leave days?
2.5 days earned per month of service.
5. Maternity days and sick off?
3 months maternity, 7 days yearly sick off uncertified, 30 days certified sick off.
