Responsibilities
- Process ocean import shipments from oversea suppliers to the U. S.
- Communicate with suppliers, ocean carriers, freight forwarders, warehouse, trucking carriers, customhouse brokers, and various teams within the company
- Request and compile rates for ocean freight, trucking, (dray, OTR, trans-load), and warehousing
- Negotiate and maintain service contracts with ocean carriers
- Negotiate various freight rates
- Keep track of inventory items
- Shipment analysis for cost effectiveness and fast transit time shipping route
- Establish team goals and measure performance by tracking of goals; make improvements to current procedures and auditing protocols, streamline workflow
- Provide Sales team and clients with accurate, timely delivery status update
- Workload delegation
- Train, coach, and evaluate team members’ overall logistics knowledge
- Design and provide reports for internal and external purposes
Qualifications & Skills
- Bilinguals preferred: speaking Chinese or Vietnamese for communication with the factories in East Asia
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive operations and leadership experience in freight forwarding and/or import logistics field
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Business Administration, Economics, or other related discipline, preferred.
- Microsoft efficiency is necessary in utilizing Office 365, Excel, MS Word, and Power Point
- Extensive knowledge in trucking and ocean import process
- Ability to solve problems and follow up with issues
- Possess an analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports and correspondence
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
- Ability to motivate staff to achieve common goals
- Ability to maintain a cooperative work environment
