The Role
We are seeking a detail-orientated and tech-savvy QA Software Tester to join our remote development team. The successful candidate will test new features and overall user experience to ensure that our products meet our high-quality standards. This role is critical in supporting our development team and ensuring our software continues to be world leading. Experience of both manual and automated testing is a definite advantage! This is a full-time, remote position with flexible working hours. We value work-life balance and offer flexibility with working hours, as long as job responsibilities are fulfilled and team meetings are attended as required.
We have a team based in Cardiff, Wales, but we work flexibly with the option for both remote-working (UK or abroad), or being based in a shared workspace.
The day-to-day role
- Test merge requests and new software releases for potential bugs and incompatibilities.
- Follow established testing guides to check and verify new features.
- Perform usability testing to confirm the software meets user needs and provides a user-friendly experience.
- Replicate user errors and accurately log issues for follow up.
- Write and maintain automated testing routines.
- Collaborate with the development team, actively participating in all stages of the development process, including planning, development, and reviews.
- Develop, modify, and execute software test plans, ensuring the solution meets its requirements.
- Analyze the results of the testing process and recommend improvements.
- Prepare comprehensive reports of all testing activities, including test results, bug documentation, and troubleshooting processes.
- Assist in updating standard operating procedures for the testing department.
- Support the implementation of new testing technologies and strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing process.
- Carry out regression testing when bugs are resolved.

Skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role in software QA testing.
- Solid understanding of and experience with testing methodologies and software development life cycles.
- Experience with various testing techniques such as UI Testing, Automated Testing, Test Driven Development Strategies, and more.
- Knowledge of PHP and WordPress would be advantageous.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to stay organised, pay attention to detail, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate in a remote team setting.
The package
- Competitive Pay: We offer a competitive salary (or freelance equivalent) of £28,000 - £35,000 per annum (or USD/local currency equivalent for international freelancers), commensurate with experience and skills.
