Student Payroll Clerk at Watermark Books & Café

Watermark Books & Café, a leading independent bookstore is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Payroll Clerk to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a current student to gain hands-on experience in payroll and human resources while working in a dynamic, constantly-evolving retail environment.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and detailed employee records in payroll system

• Verify accuracy of timesheets and address any discrepancies

• Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed

• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits

• Assist in maintaining compliance with all federal and state wage and hour laws

• Support the Payroll Manager with various tasks and projects as needed

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a college, university program, or a related field

• Prior experience in payroll or human resources is a plus

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of wage and hour laws is a plus

Compensation:

This is a part-time, hourly position with a competitive pay rate commensurate with experience.
