Objectives of the Role:

 

  • Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company
  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership and mentorship to developer teams to build their cloud competencies
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design
  • Manage cloud environments per company security guidelines

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • At the direction of lead architects, develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy AWS applications, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle for AWS solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training when necessary
  • Keep up-to-date with AWS services and industry trends to recommend and implement the latest technologies
  • Develop and manage infrastructure using IaC tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Automate deployment processes, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and ensure efficient resource
  • Implement security best practices and compliance standards in AWS, including identity and access management (IAM), VPC, and encryption
  • Set up monitoring, alerting, and logging to ensure system health and troubleshoot issues as they arise; expand implementation of the AWS CloudWatch and other monitoring tools to track the performance and health of the applications
  • Ensure AWS accounts and resources are compliant with company policies and governance
  • Working w/in architectural design, focusing on scalability, availability, and security using AWS services like EC2, RDS, S3, and more
  • Consider following a microservices architecture to take full advantage of AWS services like AWS Lambda, Amazon ECS, and AWS Fargate
  • Choose the appropriate AWS data storage services such as Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, S3, or Redshift based on the application's requirements
  • Create a disaster recovery plan using AWS services like AWS Backup, snapshots, and cross-region replication.
  • Integrate DevOps practices with AWS services like CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy to automate the software development and deployment process
  • Working with Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Four or more years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, or mathematics
  • AWS certification
  • Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected framework
  • Deep knowledge w/in web services, API, and REST
  • Knowledge of SOA, Microservices, database architecture, machine learning, and advanced analytics
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, products teams, data scientists, and subject-matter experts.
  • Proven record of optimizing AWS resources for cost-efficiency and performance, including selecting the exemplary instance types and scaling appropriately
  • Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
