Title: Team Leader of Technical Communications

Responsibilities 

Supervise a team of Technical Writers: 

• Ensure deliverables are completed on time, and in an efficient manner. 
• Monitor metrics and team productivity to identify areas for improvement, coaching team members when necessary. 
• Provide feedback on departmental processes and research ways to improve current workflows. 
• Provide the Manager of Technical Communications with reports and in-depth feedback for individual team members. 
• Assist with training new and current team members. 
• Organize tickets and writer workload for each Sprint release. 
• Perform peer review on all writers’ assignments. 
• Implement and continuously improve internal processes and tools for technical writing deliverables, such as task-specific style guides, the document review/approval process, and content management tools. 
• Support other departments by coordinating the development of internal procedures. 
• Guide department SMEs on Tech Comm best practices and how to effectively interact with the department. 
• Take appropriate measures to resolve conflicts and maintain an environment of trust and collaboration within the department. 
• Complete internal documentation tasks assigned by the Manager of Technical Communications as needed. 
• Complete other admin tasks assigned by the Manager of Technical Communications as needed. 

Skills & Qualifications 

• Must have proven a high level of skill in all responsibilities as a Technical Writer. 
• Must have demonstrated strong leadership abilities while working as a Technical Writer. 
• Experience managing a team or department is an asset. 
• Has a history of positive interactions and productive outcomes when working with others. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. 
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 
• Excellent organizational and time management skills. 
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
