Urban Electric Power designs and manufactures modular, zinc‑based battery energy storage systems built for indoor urban installations, commercial & industrial applications, and utility‑scale deployments.
Our mission is to deliver safe, dependable, American‑made energy storage solutions that are modular, scalable, and built for real‑world operations.
Role Overview:
As a Data Analyst Intern at Urban Electric Power, you will play an important role in our Data & Analytics team by helping collect, analyze, visualize, and interpret data across our product performance, manufacturing and field operations. You will gain hands‑on exposure to real‑world datasets in the clean‑energy / battery storage domain, collaborate with engineering and operations teams, and support data‑driven decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and preprocess data from multiple sources (e.g., product monitoring systems, manufacturing logs, field telemetry)
- Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations to surface trends in system performance, safety metrics, module utilization, installation efficiency
- Work alongside engineering, product development and operations teams to translate data insights into actionable recommendations
- Conduct exploratory data analysis, identify patterns, anomalies or root causes (e.g., performance degradation, thermal behavior)
- Assist in automating data workflows, establishing ETL pipelines, and ensuring data quality and integrity
- Support development of metrics and KPIs relevant to our modular battery systems (e.g., charge/discharge metrics, system uptime, manufacturing yield)
- Communicate findings clearly through visualizations and presentations to stakeholders
Qualifications & Skills
- Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field
- Strong analytical mindset and comfort working with data, numbers, and ambiguity
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib/seaborn) is a plus
- Basic understanding of statistics, data modelling, and exploratory data analysis
- Excellent communication skills—able to explain insights to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Interest in clean energy, manufacturing analytics, IoT/sensor data, or energy‑storage systems is highly desirable
